Longtime corporate chef for Facebook and Google, Josef Desimone, died Monday morning in a motorcycle accident.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg called Josef a "legend and institution" at Facebook, having joined the team in 2008. "[He] built our culinary team from a handful of employees in a single cafe into a global team with dozens of world class restaurants" all housed within Facebook's offices around the world.
Zuckerberg added that "Josef played an incredibly important role in defining our culture during those first years and right up to the present."
The 44-year-old Desimone was heavily involved in volunteer and non-profit groups, Zuckerberg stated that "Almost every weekend, he was volunteering with veterans organizations, hosting firefighter breakfasts or supporting some other valuable cause".
Details of the accident were not released. More than 200 Facebook employees and friends of Desimone commented on Zuckerberg's post to add their condolences and memories of Josef.
For one reason or another, riders tend to often be highly charitable figures with an open heart for their fellow people, making the loss of these great individuals even more difficult to accept. Desimone will clearly be missed by the many who knew him, and the San Francisco and Bay Area motorcycle accident lawyers here at RiderzLaw give our best wishes and sincerest condolences to those affected by this loss, and remind our readers to always take time out to think about their own safety, and how their well being affects others around them.
