Two motorcycles collided Sunday evening on Interstate-15 in Temecula, causing one of the bikes to burst into flames and sending on of the riders to the hospital, according to authorities
According to Jody Hagemann, a spokeswoman for CAL FIRE, the accident was reported just after 7:00 pm, slightly north of the Winchester Road exit on the northbound I-15.
Hagemann reported that after arriving on-scene the first emergency responders witnessed that “one of the motorcycles [was] fully involved with fire”.
The incident left one rider with “moderate to major” injuries, who was then transported to a local hospital.
Emergency response crews were comprised of seven firefighters along with American Medical Response and the California Highway Patrol.
While we don`t often here about motorcycle-on-motorcycle accidents, they are a very real threat to us riders. As we ride down the highway, especially when splitting lanes through traffic, we can fall into a trap of thinking we`re the fastest vehicle on the road. We may not realize that other riders are close behind and often at a higher speed than we are. For this reason, when changing lanes or maneuvering we must never fail to check behind us for motorcycles with as much vigilance as we would expect of cagers. The San Bernardino motorcycle accident lawyers here at RiderzLaw wish the downed rider the best in his recovery process, and urge riders to please be safe out there.
