Thanks for tuning back in everyone. In this section of the interview we get into how Travis feels about speed, and what future rides he’s anticipating.
T: How’d it feel going at freeway speeds?
TF: It felt cold, but it was good. It was also weird because I didn’t really feel like I was going that fast. Which is the scary part. You just don’t even realize – if something were to happen it’s not slow!
T: Have you felt that calm yet?
TF: Yeah, I’m strangely comfortable doing activities that are considered “dangerous.” Skydiving, whatever. I don’t know if it’s just a belief that I’ll be fine, or what it is. As a kid I was always climbing the playground the way it’s not supposed to be climbed, and doing all this crazy stuff. I am weirdly comfortable going freeway speeds on my bike. Is that how you feel?
T:Yeah, I definitely understand that feeling. Do you have any rides that you’re looking forward to?
TF: No. Nothing specific. I would like to maybe ride up to Malibu. A ride up the PCH. Up in the bay area between San Fransico, that’s the top of the peninsula, and if you stay on the coast that’s Half Moon Bay, and if you stay on the inside it takes you down to the airport and Burlingame, San Mateo. Though between there, we used to live in this little town called La Honda and it’s literally a biker town. It’s just a pitstop on the way to the coast, just like you’re driving to Malibu.
That’s where we used to live in this little tiny cabin, my dad used to park the Harley in the cabin. Sometimes he’d wake us up, like ‘rise and shine’, revving the engine in the house. But I would love to go ride up there some day. We used to always ride through there when I was a kid. There’s a restuarant, a general store, and then the biker spot. That’s it. Then on the other end of La Honda, you’re up in the redwoods, motorcycle country.
T: Have you had a chance to ride with you dad yet?
TF: No, I haven’t. He will be thrilled when we do. Especially because he has a couple of bikes sitting in the garage. He’s all good now, back in the fire service. He’s got a big chunk of stomach muscle down on his leg. I’m sure he’ll be ready the next time we go up there.
Check back for the final part of this interview with Travis. Stay safe in these streets!
