It’s time to dive back into my one on one chat with Dom, and find out how he learned to ride and how he feels about night rides.
T: What made you want to start driving a motorcycle?
D: As a kid I was always into it. I had a little pocket bike. It’s probably still in the shed back home. It probably still works, it just needs a sprocket. Ever since then, I’ve always wanted to learn how to ride, I just never had the guts. It took time. Like a month before I started riding I saw someone on a bike and it was so cool, and I said I’m going to do whatever it takes to get me a motorcycle. So, I took the plunge.
T: Did you take the safety class to learn how to ride?
D: I did. I paid for the class and it took me like three days. And I did an extra day they give you for free. It was about two hundred dollars and definitely worth it.
T: Two hundred for the whole class, and the extra day was included?
D: Yeah. You just tell them you want to take the extra day and that’s it.
T: Nice.
D: I passed the driving test at the end of it all, and it was cool. I liked it.
T: How beneficial would you say the class was?
D: Super. VERY helpful. I recommend everyone take the class. I still want to go back and take the advanced class to get better. If you want to do it, and be a better rider, take the class.
T: Do you have a favorite ride you’ve done? Like in your free time where do you like to go?
D: To the canyons. The “snake” is a favorite ride. I work every day in security and then, I have school throughout the week, too.
T: So, you’re waiting on holidays to ride?
D: Yeah, you know sometimes I call off and try to go on a ride. My friends text me like once a week to go on night rides or other gatherings.
T: How do you like night rides?
D: I’ve only been a couple times. It was pretty cold, so I put a sweater on over my jacket.
T: Do you do the canyons at night?
D: You know I’ve never been. That’s kind of scary. I’d be worried about having animals run across the street, which is even worse at night. It’s scary. Even during the day that’s a concern though.
Hope you all enjoyed part three of this interview with Dom. Check back for part four.
Stay safe in these streets!
