A woman mourns the passing of her husband, who died as a result of injuries sustained in a crash near Lower Otay Lake, east of Chula Vista.
The rider has been identified as 27-year-old San Diego resident Promlikhit Khamkhong.
Khamkhong and his wife, Caroline, were riding two up on their Kawasaki Ninja, when for unknown reasons, the rider lost control of the bike and went off the road, going over an embankment.
Caroline was injuried, and was unable to immediately locate her husband, so she climbed up the embankment to flag someone down to help.
Khamkhong was found unresponsive and medics were unable to save him.
