According to California Highway Patrol, Royce Waltrip, a 49-year-old rider was travelling on Highway 121 behind a Toyota . When traffic suddenly stopped, Waltrip tried to stop but lost control of his motorcycle and struck the back of the Toyota. He was severely injured in the accident and was rushed to a local hospital where he passed. Our thoughts and prayers are with this rider and his family.
As motorcycle accident attorneys, we see accidents like this all too often. As riders, we must remain aware of the limitations of our vehicles. Sadly, even the most careful riders can have a lapse in judgement and can be involved in accidents such as this. Motorcyclists can reduce the risk of such accidents, however, by taking a good motorcycle safety course, wearing bright and/or reflective clothing and equipment, and always riding defensively.
