Do you hate auto shops? Yes? Well, don’t feel bad. Almost everyone I know hates auto shops. It doesn’t matter if they drive a car or motorcycle, as the disdain for going to the shop tends to cause as much dread as a trip to the dentist. I too hate these journeys to the shop. I’ve been taken for a ride a time or two when dealing with mechanics in the past. However, I’m confident in saying that Al’s Cycle Shop in Echo Park, Los Angeles is the most legit bike shop I’ve been to.
I’m almost positive at this point you’re skeptical with my previous declaration, but I stand by it. I’ve been taking my motorcycles to Al’s Cycle Shop for the past three years. I’ve always found the customer service top notch, and the mechanics very knowledgeable. They also do their best to work with customers on the financial side of things.
My first bike was used, and about ten years old from when it first hit the market. Plus, it had already had about three previous owners before I got my hands on it. Financially, this meant I had a lot of repairs and maintenance work to do on the bike. I called around to a number of shops in Los Angeles before I took it in for estimates. The labor fees alone for most places was out of hand as far as I was concerned. The cheapest shop I found was Al’s Cycle Shop.
Now, cheap doesn’t always mean the best. I fully believe you get what you pay for. Luckily, Al’s also offers fantastic mechanical service. When I spoke with Al, he told me his mechanics were what set his shop apart from others. Surprisingly, there’s an estimated total of over one hundred years of mechanical experience working in his shop. I feel confident every time I go in that my bike is in good hands.
Al’s Cycle Shop proves customer service truly does go a long way with keeping your clientele happy. They don’t just look for the most expensive option in solving your bike problem, they look for the most efficient way first. Then, if you don’t have all the money up front, they prioritize what needs to be done first and in some cases in the past they’ve even been generous enough to work out payment plans.
I’m not saying this shop is going to make miracles happen, but they’ll put their best foot forward and keep you on your bike. If you’re looking for a new shop, give Al’s Cycle Shop a chance.
Stay safe in these streets!
