Protecting your motorcycle can feel like a perpetual and un-ending task; at least to me it does.
I’m constantly researching new ways to keep my bike out of harm’s way. I recently went back to street parking in my very crowded neighborhood, and I wanted to find an alarm system to deter people from touching my bike. However, I didn’t really have the funds to spend on a high tech security system at the time. With this in mind I went for the Xena XX-6 Disc Lock with Alarm.
Relatively speaking, it is a very economical security device – costing about $72 at retail. Is it the most preventative form of security on the market? Probably not. Because as we all know, if someone wants your bike they can come snatch it up with a crew of guys, hoisting it onto the back of a truck. However, I think it’s every owner’s responsibility to make the theft of their bike as difficult as possible. With the Xena XX-6 Disc Lock it is yet another step for me to protect my prized possession.
The basic feature of the Xena XX-6 Motorcycle Lock doesn’t allow your bike to be rolled away as it attaches to the wheel’s disc. But basic rotor locks can be had for much cheaper than $72. What sets the Xena apart from a “basic rotor lock” is the alarm, which is highly sensitive to even the slightest movement.
There have been days I’ve forgotten to take the lock off before I’ve removed the cover, and the alarm sounds immediately. It is extremely loud, and most likely will convince anyone messing with your bike to move onto a quieter target (Because if you think about it, why wouldn’t they? There’s nothing about my noisy bike that makes it more valuable to a thief than the alarm-less bikes around the corner or down the block).
The lock fits into the palm of my hand, but is weighted. The size of the Xena XX-6 Lock allows the user to carry it in their backpack or pocket. This is an added bonus for me, because when you aren’t familiar with a neighborhood, one ought to err on the side of caution.
As stated, this device isn’t the end-all anti-theft protection for your motorcycle. However, it will make a potential thief think twice about the amount of effort and risk of capture he’s willing to invest in the theft of your motorcycle. If nothing else, the Xena XX-6 Disc Lock with Alarm is a cheap and easy way of adding an alarm to your motorcycle; which is why I recommend this device.
Stay safe in these streets!
