I was recently gifted the Icon Women’s Twenty-Niner Gloves. I very nice gesture considering the velcro on my old gloves was no longer holding anything in place. These gloves also happen to be my first pair of women’s gloves, as I’ve purchased men’s gloves prior because they tend to look cooler honestly. The difference between the two was instantly felt.
The saying, ‘fit like a glove’, is more than accurate when it comes to the Twenty-niner gloves. The fit is extremely snug, and I feel like the glove runs a little small. My hands are not very big, a running family joke I’ve suffered through my entire life, but the size medium I have feels extremely tight. I’ve been attempting to break the gloves in all week, and slowly but surely I believe I’m making progress.
The goatskin material on the palm of the glove is probably my favorite feature. It allows for a very confident grip while riding. With that said, I have mixed feelings about the backs of them.
Though the air flow from the mesh material is a much appreciated feature during hot weather, the rubber knuckle armor is uncomfortable against my skin; particularly the ring finger on my right hand. The irritation could be a result of the way the manufactures sewed the feature onto the glove, or I have sensitive chubby fingers. I think I might take some scissors to the gloves and see what I can manage.
All in all, these are solid gloves. They’re snug, so consider ordering a size larger to be safe, or better yet find them in-store and test out the fit. They are well constructed and durable, with palms made of leather. And last but not least, you’re not sacrificing style with these gloves. So would I recommend them? Yes.
