If you're a biker, you may want to avoid Santa Monica on Sunday, Arpil 15.
As summer approaches, expect more and more of these kinds of posts from me: The weather is warming up, and "public safety" is on the minds of your friendly neighborhood law enforcement. The feds give the state money allocated for motorcycle safety, the state gives it to the cities, and the cities give it to the cops. Who proceed to use it to send cops out to write us tickets.
Wow — thanks for looking out for us! According to the Santa Monica Mirror, on April 15, the Santa Monica Police Department will be putting out extra LOEs to areas where "motorcyclists and where motorcycle crashes occur." So I'm confused — where exactly do motorcyclists occur? Hmmmm.
If you read this blog or you're familiar with this website, you know that as a motorcycle accident lawyer, I am a staunch supporter of motorcycle safety. What I'd like to see, however, is that money that's allocated for us actually go toward motorcycle safety, not toward writing tickets to bikers for things like loud pipes.
