ORANGE COUNTY MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT ATTORNEY REPORT: The Orange County motorcycle accident lawyers at Riderz Law have learned of a tragic motorcycle accident that occurred this past weekend. Last Sunday evening, a San Clemente man crashed his motorcycle on the I-5 north after he collided with a tractor-trailor.
According to California Highway Patrol, the accident victim was 23-year-old Kyle Joseph Mason, an Orange County resident and an active-duty Marine. Mr. Mason was riding his late-model Yamaha motorcycle on the I-5 north just past Lomas Santa Fe at approximately 8pm when he swerved over three lanes, running into the back of a semi-truck filled with lumber. Mr. Mason was critically injured in the accident, and was rushed to Scripps La Jolla Medical Center. Tragically, Mr. Mason later succumbed to his injuries, passing away at approximately 9:30 p.m. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Mason and his family.
It is unclear what caused Mr. Mason to swerve across three lanes of traffic and strike the back of the truck. Authorities did not cite the truck driver for any wrongdoing and there have been no reports of drug or alcohol involvement. From preliminary reports, it appears that this may have simply been a case of rider losing control of his motorcycle. Unfortunately, this is an all-too common occurrence–particularly among younger, less experienced riders. The motorcycle accident lawyers at Riderz Law remind everyone to ride safely and responsibly.
