Motorcyclists are accustomed to being threatened by cagers (aka car drivers). But what about free-rangers? In Walnut Creek, California, a city in the Bay Area's Contra Costa County, motorcyclists are being attacked by turkeys. And no, I'm not using 70s slang. I'm talking about actual, delicious, Thanksgiving Day poultry.
According to a news source, these crazy birds are "racing accross the road to confront bikers," and according to the report, only bikers. “They will circle me and they will get closer and closer on each revolution, and then they will start hitting me with their wings and jumping up in the air and try to bat me with their wings on me,” said local biker Dan Brown. They say that many local riders are avoiding the area altogether.
This just goes to show that road hazards can come from the most unexpected of places. An most of them are not this funny. Ride safe, stay alert, and let's get a little bit of delicious revenge next Thursday on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Walnut Creek!
