SAN DIEGO MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT ATTORNEY REPORT: The motorcycle accident lawyers at Riderz Law have learned of a tragic accident that occurred this past Thursday evening in San Diego.
According to California Highway Patrol, 40-year-old Shawn Russell Kinzar, from El Cajon, was riding his motorcycle on eastbound Interstate 8 near Mollison Avenue around 8:40 p.m. when the accident occurred. Reports indicate that Mr. Kinzar was riding a 2003 Honda CBR 600 at a high rate of speed when he lost control and was ejected from his bike into traffic lanes, where he may have been struck by a car. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s office reports that Mr. Kinzar was rushed to nearby Sharp Memorial Hospital, where attempts to resuscitate were unsuccessful. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Kinzar and his family in the wake of this terrible accident.
Unfortunately, we see far too many solo motorcycle accidents like this — particularly with high-performance sport bikes such as the Honda CBR 600. The CBR 600 is essentially a street version of Honda’s legendary racing bike that has dominated the Supersport World Championships for the past decade. In short, this bike is a beast, and should only be ridden by people with a ton of experience and know-how. In the wrong hands, these bikes can be EXTREMELY dangerous, and a relatively inexperienced rider can easily lose control. We talked about this in our article regarding Ducati’s new 800cc Monster, where we discuss the importance of riding a motorcycle within one’s skill level. Again, we don’t know what Mr. Kinzar’s skill level was, but it looks like excessive speed and loss of control were factors in the accident.
We remind all of our clients and readers to ride smart and ride safe.
