CHICO: Our Chico motorcycle accident lawyers have learned of an accident that occurred last Monday on the I-5 just north of Sourgrass Road. According to California Highway Patrol, George Matthew Gerkin, 39, crashed his late 90’s model Harley Davidson into a car ahead of him, resulting in significant injuries.
According to reports, Mr. Gerkin was riding at a high rate of speed and rear-ended a Nissan Maxima traveling ahead of him that was traveling around 70 miles per hour. Mr. Gerkin was ejected from his bike and rolled several times, finally coming to a stop on the side of the highway. Mr. Gerkin was evacuated via helicopter to the medical center in Chico, where he is listed in fair condition. Our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery go out to Mr. Gerkin.
Unfortunately, from CHP reports, this appears to be yet another motorcycle accident that was entirely preventable, as excessive speed and unsafe riding appear to be the culprits. As motorcycle accident lawyers who serve Chico, the entire Sacramento valley, and all of California, we see accidents like this far too often. We remind our readers and clients to ride safely and under control at all times.
