In Orange County, California, the phrase "You ride like a girl" has become something of a compliment.
By all accounts, fourteen year old Hayley Perrault of Capistrano Beach, CA, is tearing it up on her 250cc motorcycle. According to the OC Register, she may be the only girl in Southern California racing motorcycles on the oval-shaped dirt tracks of speedways in Orange County, Riverside County and San Bernardino.
Ms. Perrault hopes that, once she turns 16, she will become the first girl to make speedway motorcycling's "USA Dream Team" to tour Europe.
Says Brad Oxley, who runs the Costa Mesa Speedway, "She beats guys that go faster than her," Oxley said last weekend while Perrault attended "Rad" Brad's School of Skid. "In a race, she outsmarts them."
Perrault has been riding since she was 5, and racing since the age of 8. Her first machine was a 50cc bike, on which she competed in the "Peewee division." Since then, she's been winning, having accumulated twenty-one wins in the past four seasons, including winning her division at the California State Junior Open Championships in Victorville.
Keep it up, Hayley. The OC motorcycle accident lawyers at Riderz Law are routing for you!
