MODESTO: The Modesto motorcycle accident attorneys at Riderz Law have a tragic motorcycle accident to report from last week. On June 9, twenty-nine year old fire fighter Andrew Maloney, of Los Banos, was killed in a fatal accident with a drunk driver.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Maloney was riding his motorcycle south on Highway 165 near Pioneer Road when Amie Chick, 29, driving a late-model Jeep, made a left turn directly in front of Maloney. Maloney was unable to stop his motorcycle in time to avoid a collision, and suffered a severe crash. He was rushed to a local hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. Our thoughts and prayers are with this slain rider and his family.
According to the CHP report, Chick was on her cell phone when the accident occurred, and was also found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. As motorcycle accident lawyers, we see despicable behavior from drivers like this all too often. Time and again, a negligent or drunk driver fails to see a motorcyclist on the road, and the motorcyclist is severely injured or killed in an accident. Criminal charges will no doubt be made against the driver. We hope they throw the book at her.
