Yesterday was Memorial Day, a day of remembrance of those who have fought and sacrificed for this country. Throughout the country, motorcycle rides and rallies are held to raise money for veterans. In Washington, D.C., tens of thousands of riders rolled into DC for the annual Rolling Thunder rally to honor veterans. Vice-presidential candidate and former governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, was among them.
Apparently, this has caused quite a stir throughout the media — not just in America — but throughout the world. Newspapers in France, Germany, Japan, Sweden, and Spain (among many others) ran stories about it. Why was Sarah Palin riding with leather-clad bikers? What’s her angle? Is she about to announce a bid for the GOP ticket for president?
I’m not writing this blog to applaud Ms. Palin. And I’m certainly not doing it to criticize her. But all these media types are running around asking why Sarah Palin jumped on a Harley and rode in support of our troops on Memorial Day. My only question is, of the thousands of politicians in DC, why was she the ONLY one who did it?
