A rider was killed Saturday in an accident in Lancaster.
According to California Highway Patrol officer Richard McAllister, the incident took place just before 12:30 pm at the intersection of San Francisquito Canyon Road and Spunky Canyon Road.
The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Carlos Veliz of Lancaster. He was riding his Yamaha motorcycle when, according to John Lutz of the CHP, he collided with a 2005 Nissan pickup truck.
The unidentified driver of the Nissan was traveling in the opposite direction of Veliz. She sustained minor injuries in the crash.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, but authorities say that neither drugs nor alcohol are a factor.
With the cause of this tragedy under investigation, there really is no telling what might have gone wrong which led to the death of Carlos Veliz. Frankly, no placement of blame will bring the young rider back to those who lost him.
The Los Angeles motorcycle lawyers here at RiderzLaw offer our deepest, most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Carlos Veliz.
Please readers we beg you, to stay safe and lookout for yourselves and other riders on our roadways.
