The Police Department of Southern California has released a statement late Monday confirming the death of Sgt. Leonard Luna, explaining the accident to have occurred on an I-105 off-ramp near Long Beach Blvd.
The accident occurred at 5:26 p.m. according to City News Service reports.
Luna, who joined the force in 2003, is survived by parents, a brother, extended family and friends.
Given that no other details have been released, the Los Angeles motorcycle accident lawyers here at RiderzLaw can only wish those close with Sgt. Luna our sincerest condolences.
Even the most experienced motorcyclists–including those trained by the LA Police–are not immune to roadway accidents. Unfortunately, even the most skilled and experienced motorcyclists can be victims of other people’s negligence. Far too often, people driving cars fail to see motoryclists — even police motorcyels — and either cut them off, turn left in front of them, or hit them from behind. We will update this report as more details are released. We remind all of our clients and readers to ride safely and defensively.
