A young man will survive a motorcycle crash with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The victim has been identified as Trevor Liening, a 22-year-old native of El Cajon. While riding in Irvine with a group of sixteen others, a car crash sent a Volkswagen Beetle into oncoming traffic and the path of Liening.

Liening was unable to avoid a collision. Upon impact he was ejected from his motorcycle. According to a recent interview, Trevor remained conscious throughout the ordeal.

Emergency responders rushed him to a nearby hospital where doctors discovered both of his legs suffered compound fractures. Scans later revealed that he also had broken his back.

Of his back injury, Trevor stated “it was a centimeter away from being paralyzed.”

Many surgeries later, which included placement of new titanium hardware, and Trevor was being transferred to Sharp Grossmont Hospital for rehabilitation.

Following incredible improvements at the hands of medical-care professionals, Trevor is now slated to be released Saturday.

Of Sharp Grossmont Hospital, Trevor stated, “this place is amazing. They do some great stuff here. A week ago, there’s no way I could walk like I am now.”

Several riders intend on convoying alongside Trevor’s car as he is driven home Saturday.

In this incident it was an unrelated crash that sent the car spiraling into the path of one unsuspecting rider. It goes without saying that Mr. Liening was incredibly lucky that not only he survived, but also that he came out with the anticipation of complete return to normal mobility.

The only piece of advice we can offer, which may or may not be applicable to this scenario, is if on the roads there is ever an incident apparent – slow down and pull to the opposite side of the road relative to what is occurring. Even if it isn’t obvious what’s going on, or if there is a large buffer of distance, it’s still a good idea to err on the side of caution. It’s astonishing how quickly and without warning a vehicle can change direction in the event of an impact or mechanical failure.

The San Diego motorcycle lawyers here at RiderzLaw wish a speedy recovery to Mr. Liening, and urge all our readers to ride safely out on the streets!
