Upland Rider Killed in Motorcycle Collision with Honda Van

An Upland motorcycle rider was killed when he struck the rear of a Honda van last Friday night.

Authorities say that the 48-year-old man, identified as Daniel Keddy, was riding his black 2013 Harley Davidson east on Oak Glen Road when he crashed into the rear of the van at Stonewood Street. The crash ejected him onto the pavement causing fatal head and torso trauma.

The 1996 gray Honda van, driven by 47-year-old Jennifer Bacon of Yucaipa, was traveling north on Stonewood and was apparently turning onto Oak Glen Road at the time of the accident.

Keddy was found lying next to his motorcycle by Sheriff's deputies. Emergency response crews headed by Cal Fire and American Medical Response arrived on-scene and attempted life-saving efforts. Keddy was rushed to Loma Linda University Medical Center. Despite all efforts, he died just before 8:00 pm.

No cause for the collision has yet been reported. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call 909-790-3105.

Although authorities have yet to release an official cause for this accident, looking at photos of the intersection it appears this is a standard "inattentive driver turns in front of rider". The only advice we can give to aide riders from avoiding this type of accident is to always be wary of intersections, especially at night. You might have the right-of-way, you might be traveling at a safe speed, engine roaring, lights on…none of it matters if you cross paths with the wrong driver at the wrong time. The San Bernardino motorcycle lawyers here at RiderzLaw offer our deepest condolences to all those affected by this tragedy, and beg our readers to please stay safe on the roadways.
