SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO – A rider was killed Sunday when he crashed into the back of a truck towing a trailer that was out of control.

The incident occurred just after 8:30 am on a westbound lane of Ortega Highway.

According to officials, a 63-year-old rider on a 2003 Aprilla was following a 2012 Chevrolet truck pulling a trailer.

According to officer Aaron Rothberg, the truck driver says that he lost control of the truck, following which the rider crashed into the back of him.

The rider, who was not identified, died at the scene. The driver stayed on-scene following the crash to offer authorities a statement.

California Highway Patrol officers are asking for help from four riders traveling eastbound at the time who would have witnessed the incident. They should call (714)487-4000.

Rothberg says "It's an interesting crash and it would help us tremendously if we talked to the motorcycle riders."

There is only a vague understanding offered regarding the events which led to this fatal accident. We can only hope that the four witnesses to the incident step in and shed some light on what caused this rider to lose his life.

The Orange County motorcycle lawyers here at RiderzLaw offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the downed rider. We beg you readers, to please stay safe out on the roads.
