A rider was put into critical condition and flown via CalStar air ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital after being struck by at least one vehicle Wednesday afternoon.

The man, reportedly from Los Angeles, was riding with a friend to San Francisco on Highway 1 when the incident occurred south of Jalama Road near Lompoc.

According to the CHP, the crash took place Wednesday at 3:30 pm when the rider, traveling northbound, crossed the double yellow lines and was struck.

The CHP is investigating whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.

We all know and love the feeling of riding our machines on tight roads that allow us the freedom to unwind a bit. The story here sounds to be a situation where the rider may have become just a bit too comfortable, or pushed his bike slightly too far beyond it's ability to stay in the lane. A sobering story because it's a relatable one; our best wishes go out to the recovery of the rider. The Los Angeles motorcycle accident lawyers here at RiderzLaw sincerely hope he will come out with the ability to ride another day.
